English chitchat

Yo!

1. Having problems speaking, writing, learning or understanding English?
2. Want to improve your English skills?
3. Or do you just feel like talking/writing in English every now and then for some weird reason?

I go with number 3.  
I use English daily. I write stuff, read books and chat with my friends. I'm a real pain in the butt for my Finnish friends as I tend to write them in English also. :P

Our old forum had an English chitchat topic so I wanted to open up one here also, if you don't mind.

So! Don't be shy! Come share with your thoughts with us. Express yourself in a different language. It's good practice for school, you'll learn a lot by writing and speaking -> using the language in general. At least that has worked for me.  

Oh, and if you feel uncomfortable and uncertain about your skills.. No worries! Neither of us is perfect. Besides, not all native English speakers no anything about English grammar so we really don't have anything to be ashamed of.  :D



Oh, and dearest admins. If I don't manage to wake up any kind of conversation here.. you may just remove this thread. I had to give it a try! ;)

I have to go to the store. Just the other day I carried home three plastic bags of different kinds of groceries and guess twice if I remembered to get COFFEE or TEA! No, neither! Oh me! reps

Friday or not, it's always good to have Friday. I did work today. What a terrible day. Customers after customers. 15 minutes over time. But now, home. Freedom is here! :D

Ouh great. Now i  can practice here too. I installing IMVU 3D chat on my computer and only reason for that is because i want practice my english :D I have "hangover day" today. We have yesterday little party. i, My boyfriend, my boyfriends band drummer and drummers girlfriend.

Last night i was out with my friends too. I can't say it was bad - in fact i had nice time. Today morning i just noticed there's something wrong with my right hand. I can't move my 2 fingers(i don't even try to spell them in english :D), bones of the fingers makes really weird noise and it also hurts a lot. :wacko:

This topic is a great idea! I must say my english is not very good. I used to speak english daily with my ex-boyfriend but since we broke up i haven't use english at all. You are free to tell if i make some mistakes. :)

Laura, when the new James Bond movie comes out? :)

Lizzy, the movie will come out 5th or 7th of November, I don't remember which one it was, propably 5th :)

Can I be the one here who nags about every mistake? I am, after all, an English major. ;)

Yovela, I also used to be an English major before I launched to a career of possibly inprofitable artsy-fartsy classical musician stuff... ;) Yay, this is fun! First I thought that we actually have international members here at the forum, maybe we could now trick them to join? ;)

*moans* I think I've broken my toe. We bought a Pepsi twopack, and while I carried it, the cardboard thingy that's supposed to serve as a handle suddenly tore apart, and the other bottle attacked my poor little toes. I don't see how that was possible, but the bottle-bottom guillotine has probably severed at least one toe completely, or that's what it feels like... Boo hoo. Hurts, I don't know if I can sleep, since we have no painkillers...

Why is it that chatting in English is much easier than in Finnish? I guess I'm better at keeping it quiet in the Mother tongue... ;) Then again, I still read almost a half of all the books I read in English. Just to keep the skill up :)

I love this topic too! It's just so much easier to express yourself in English. It's weird but true. And fun!

I use English every day nowadays - on the internet. My English is far from perfect but who cares. I think the most important thing is that you have courage to use it and people get your point. English comes more naturally to me than for example Swedish which is our another mother tonque. It's quite understandable because I watch so many American tv series and movies... and you here English everywhere. But where I live, it's a shame not being able to use Swedish. I understand it quite well but if I need to start talking, it's like I become mute and I can't remember any words. I blame school for that, because teachers make us pay too much attention to grammar and not speaking itself. I mean, who teaches a baby grammar before (s)he starts to speak... Exactly. No one.

Annikainen, we do have some international members but not very active ones, though. InSimenator is our affiliate (at least it was earlier :D) and they have linked us. So, every now and then people find their way to our little forum from there. :P


I am also waiting for 007 premiere, in Finland it's on November 7th, on Friday!
I have never been a fan to the old Bond films but I just loved Casino Royale. These new 007's are so much more realistic and not so ridiculous than the old ones.
